DescriptionV12 is a Ty1/Copia-like LTR retrotransposon described in the genome of Vitis vinifera (Kalendar et al. 2007, unpublished). This element belongs to Tork clade within the Branch 2 of Ty1/Copia family (Llorens et al. 2009). V12 genome is about 5.4 Kb in size (5433 bp long,) and includes identical 676 nts LTRs flanking a single Open Reading Frame (ORF) of 1337 amino acids. The ORF displays the Ty1/Copia-like gag-pol domains organization (gag, protease, integrase, reverse transcriptase and ribonuclease H). Structure
