DescriptionHumnum is a Ty1/Copia LTR retrotransposon found in the genome of the Lepidoptera Heliconius numata (Llorens et al. 2009). It constitutes a one-single-sequence clade within Branch 2 of the Ty1/Copia LTR retrotransposons family as it has no phylogenetic relatives to date reported (Llorens et al. 2009). The genome of Humnum, of about of 4.4 Kb in size (4379 bp long) including 139-bp LTRs, presents a single long polyprotein of 1316 amino acids containing both gag and pol Ty1/Copia associated domains (Llorens et al. 2009).
