Its name is an acronym derived from “Nasonia vitripennis Bel/Pao element”. Nabel belongs to the Bel clade (Copeland et al. 2005) within Branch 1 of the Bel/Pao family (Llorens et al. 2009). The genome of Nabel element is about of 4.7 Kb in size (4686 bp long) and shows an ORF containing the typical gag and pol polyprotein domains of Bel/Pao elements, information about the LTRs of Nabel is not yet available.
