DescriptionMurine Endogenous Retrovirus-Leucine (MuERV-L) is an endogenous env-defective retrovirus characterized in the genome of Mus musculus (Benit et al. 1997; 1999). This element belongs to the group of ERV-L elements, and its genomic structure is 6.5 Kb in size including LTRs of 493. Its internal region displays a Primer Binding Site (PBS) complementary to a tRNALeu, Open Reading Frames (ORFs) for gag and pol-dUTPase, and a Polypurine Tract (PPT) adjacent to the 3´LTR (Benit et al. 1997; 1999).
